Engaged Citizens of Burlington is pleased to announce a new series of events to be held in the coming months.

The purpose of the events will be to inform, explain and discuss the important issues affecting Burlington, development, citizen engagement and local democracy.

We are doubly pleased to announce that our inaugural speaker will be Mayor Marianne Meed Ward, who will be speaking about the impact of the Local Planning Appeals Tribunal (LPAT) on the ability of municipalities to defend their Official Plans and implement a democratically based development vision.

The kick-off event will happen this spring in the Communnity Room at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre. The event will be free to attend, but membership of ECoB of a small donation would be appreciated to defray the costs. As an incorporated not-for-profit organization, your help would be most appreciated.

Future presentations will deal with related issues about improving local democracy, citizen engagement, and ensuring Burlington’s future is shaped by residents.

Events will be open to all.
